Elias "Upset" Lipp, a bot laner, is returning to the competitive scene at the League of Legends EMEA Championship after having a vacation (LEC).
After verbally agreeing to join Team Vitality, the German professional player is leaving Fnatic.
He will partner up with Norman "Kaiser" Kaiser in the bot lane to take over for Mat "Neon" Jakubk's position as Vitality's AD carry.
In front of Spring 2023, the esports organisation formally revealed their roster changes, with Upset joining the squad as their starting ADC.
'Upset's profile has imposed itself on our team to bring in greater balance and more adaptable performance,' the esports group said in a formal statement.
The player will receive help in finding a new team from Vitality and Neon.
Disappointed tweeted a beehive emoji during the break in the regular season, fueling speculation that he was joining Vitality.
At the beginning of the offseason in 2017, the bot laner has been sitting out to allow Martin "Rekkles" Larsson to take part in the Winter Split.
On February 28, 2023, esports insider Brieuc "LEC Wooloo" Seeger announced that Upset might have found a new home in the LEC for the next split. It seems that Upset could be joining Perkz, Bo and Kaiser on Team Vitality who showed a great performance during the regular split, missing the playoffs by less than an inch.
Upset making a comeback in the LEC is great to see, with him being one of the most talented bot laners to come out of the region in the last few years. So, will he be able to help Team Vitality in the next split to try and earn their spot at the 2023 Mid-Season Invitational to represent the whole EMEA region?
